there's a new Queen in town........

Cool change this afternoon. Rain even. Once it was dark Eric and I popped out to pick up the swarm. They are now safely down at the community garden under my White Nectarine tree.

The whole transporting the box thing went very well. The most obvious indicator of success being the distinct lack of bees escaping into the car while we were driving along.

So what is your name Your Majesty? Who are you? Will we be friends?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What we know so far:
  • large swarm
  • quiet
  • friendly
  • no stings!
  • tough enough to survive my rather vigorous shaking into the box with no reprisals
that is all.

Hi Em - hey your garden and seedlings are REALLY coming along! I LOVe the name Amelia - but Mrs Duck has already bagged the name - so I was thinking Queen Bedelia which is an old English name for "strength" which is just what you want in a hive I suspect!

stay well!

Yeah they are. And with this beautiful weather today I will be able to get even more done out there!

Queen Bedelia sounds good, I like :) And yes, strength is definitely a good attribute for a hive.

well Boedicia is out if she is a calm one - wasn't she the fiesty queen the Romans defeated? So is this a new hive and you still have the one back at home? You amazing bee keeper you. And yes, good, no stings in the car, I agree!
